Every year on October 4th, we celebrate World Animal Day. It's a day where we recognise the animals around the world who, just like us, are sentient beings and deserve to be treated with respect and compassion.
World Animal Day is made up of contributions from organisations and individuals all over the world, it's something we can all get involved in.
Whether it's setting up a local event such as a beach clean, or raising money with a sponsored run or cake sale, the ways you can help spread awareness are endless.
At Naturewatch Foundation, in addition to coordinating the day of celebration itself, we also fund a £10,000 grant, which is awarded each year to one of the World Animal Day Ambassadors focused on a specific piece of work.
Our past grant winners have used these funds to assist with a variety of activities that support animal welfare in their local areas, including providing vaccinations, developing educational content for schools, authorities and universities, and running spay/neuter programmes.
